Teresa E. Mazza, of Orchard Park, born September 30,1960 in Niagara Falls. Entered into rest after a long illness on July 10, 2024. Cherished daughter of the late Orlando J. Mazza, Sr and Susan (nee Mittiga) Mazza. Terri was strong in faith and love for her family. It was her kind heart and generosity that made her so special.She graduated from Buffalo State University with a BA in communications. Her career spanned working in Higher Education, private sector and various non-profits before retirement. She was a college football fan, Bills fan and avid animal lover. She was always finding ways to make a difference in others' lives. Survived by her brothers, Joseph Mazza, Vincent Mazza and best friend of her sister Elizabeth Mazza. Predeceased by brother Orlando J. Mazza Jr. Grandparents, Joseph and Elizbeth Mittiga and Teresa Pacifico and Patrick Mazza. Aunt to Spartan. No prior visitation. Stephen C. Plumeri, of Naples, Florida passed away on July 13, 2024, at the age of 88. He was born in 1935, in Niagara Falls, NY, the son of the late Stephen Plumeri and Arleen Rotella Plumeri. He is survived by Sharon O'Rourke Plumeri, his beloved wife of 38 years. A U.S. Army veteran, Mr. Plumeri served in Okinawa in the ASA, the military arm of the National Security Agency. His time in Japan led him to a lifelong interest in Asian art and culture. Mr. Plumeri was a resident of Naples, FL for 25 years. He retired in 1991 as President of New England Development and was involved in the development, management and ownership of numerous regional retail shopping centers. He was a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers and served on numerous committees and panels affecting the shopping center industry. He was also a former Trustee of Niagara University where he received an honorary Ph.D. in Commercial Science in 1996. He was a generous donor to educational scholarships and charities that focused on helping children in need, as well as charities in his adopted home of Naples.Mr. Plumeri was a former member of the Chaine de Rotisseurs and was a lover of fine wine and cuisine. His Sunday morning always began with him completing the New York Times Sunday Crossword Puzzle in pen. He was also an avid reader and chess player. He and his wife traveled extensively throughout the world, but his home in Naples, Florida became his favorite place to spend his time.In addition to his wife, Sharon Plumeri, he is also survived by his sister, Sandra (Anthony) D'Eloia of Long Island, NY, and by many nieces and nephews, and by his sister-in-law, Nancy Plumeri of Lewiston, NY. He was especially close to his niece, Janine Bellonte and her family, who brightened his days with their kindness and attention. He was predeceased by his brother, Robert Plumeri. The family wishes to thank Kathie VanVoorhis of Naples Private Home Care and especially her caregivers Andreina, Airys, Jesula, and Connie for their support and kind care during his last years at home. Doreen O'Shea Michailof passed into eternal rest July 15, 2024. She was the daughter of the late Edward and Elizabeth (nee McCormack) Berthot. She is survived by her daughters Siobhan (Gregory) Lee, Shannon Thompson and son Kevin (Rhonda) O'Shea. Doreen is also survived by stepdaughter Laura (Jim) McGee and stepson David (Sarah) Michailof. Doreen was predeceased by son Sean, husbands Senan O'Shea and Ronald "Mike" Michailof, sisters Ann and Mary and grandson Matthew. Doreen leaves behind nine grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. All beloved.Doreen's greatest joy was her four sisters, her children and grandchildren. She had a flair for decorating, always presenting a warm and inviting home. This talent especially made the holidays magical. Her body was gifted to U. B. Medical Department and internment will come at a later date. There will be a Memorial Mass at St. Bernard's Roman Catholic Church of Youngstown on Thursday, August 1st at 10 a.m.

Shirley May (Sawyer) Oldfield, age 91, a longtime resident of Youngstown, New York, returned to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, in the Niagara Hospice Wing of Northgate Healthcare Facility in North Tonawanda, NY. Charles S. Woolcutt, of Lewiston, NY, passed away surrounded by family on Sunday, July 14, 2024, at Niagara Hospice House, Lockport, NY. He was born in Niagara Falls, NY on February 16, 1930, a son of the late Kenneth and Grace [Beach] Woolcutt.Mr. Woolcutt was a graduate of Niagara Falls High School in 1948 and served with the US Navy from 1951-1955. After returning from the service, he became an electrician with Local #237 IBEW until retiring in 1990. He was a member of IBEW for 75 years. Mr. Woolcutt was a member of the Lewiston Writers Group and the New York State Designer Blacksmiths. He was interested in history and sharing his talents of woodworking, jewelry making, stained glass art, and much more with his family. He loved playing cards with friends and a good Euchre game with family.He was the loving husband of the late Dorothy [May] Woolcutt, who passed away in October of 2013. He was also predeceased by his daughter Diane (late James) Biniecki and a brother Richard Woolcutt and sister Ellen Stark. Thomas G. Skrlin, 67, of Niagara Falls, NY, went to walk with Jesus on Monday, July 15, 2024. Eugenia Messer, age 98, of the Village of Lewiston, entered into eternal rest, peacefully surrounded by her daughters on Monday, July 15, 2024. Born on January 13, 1926 in Niagara Falls, NY, the daughter of the late Helen (nee Sunduk) Marchak and Emil Zinkievich. Eugenia graduated from LaSalle High School in 1945. She married the late James Eldon Messer on October 27, 1945, in the First Baptist Church in Niagara Falls, NY. In October 24, 2020, they were blessed and had the joy of celebrating their 75th wedding anniversary.Eugenia worked as a medical secretary for Drs. Brennen and Moore retiring in the early 1990's. She was very involved with the Forrest Avenue Church of God. She was a prayer warrior and active in the Missionary Society. She also attended Niagara Frontier Bible Church. While residing in Sun City West, Arizona with her husband, she volunteered at thrift shops and at Luke AFB, where they enjoyed baking cookies for soldiers. Besides her parents and her late husband, Eugenia is predeceased by her dear siblings, Constantine (late Olga) Zinkievich, Sophie (late Conway) Chadwick and Nicholas Zinkievich. Theodore 'Ted' C. Harbridge, 93, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on July 10, 2024 at Niagara Hospice House in Lockport, NY. Born in Indiana, PA, he was the son of the late Robert C. and Sarah (Wilt) Harbridge.Ted was raised in Pennsylvania and proudly served in the United States Army in Korea from 1949 until his honorable discharge in 1952. After his time in the service, he graduated from Trott Vocational High School. On April 30, 1955, he married Alverta L. (Stoddard) Harbridge at Sacred Heart Church in Niagara Falls, NY. Ted was employed as a Chemical Lab Technician for Goodyear Tire and Rubber for 30 years until his retirement in 1994. A man of faith, he was a longtime member of Prince of Peace Church, where he served as an usher. Ted was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #247. He loved gardening, hunting, fishing, baking apple pies, and cheering on the Buffalo Bills and New York Yankees. A jack of all trades, Ted was the family handyman, helping all those who needed it. Above all, he cherished time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.In addition to his wife of 69 years, Theodore is survived by his children, Judy (Willard) Evans, Richard (Marion) Harbridge, Ronald (Karen) Harbridge, and Linda (Brian) Kozlowski; his grandchildren, Michael (Dana) Evans, Ashley (Jeremiah) Grabowski, Eric Harbridge, Amanda Harbridge, Steven Kozlowski, Jonathan Kozlowski, and Brandon (Jacqueline) Harbridge; his step-granddaughter, Sarah (Carmen) Morreale; his great-grandchildren, David Evans, Caroline Evans, Adam Grabowski, John Paul Grabowski, and Colette Harbridge; his step-great-grandchildren, Charlie and Olivia Morreale, as well as by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Christopher M. Smith, of Niagara Falls, passed away on Tuesday, July 9, 2024. He was born on January 27, 1978, son of Catherine N. (Hermanson) Smith and the late Gary L. Smith, Sr.Christopher graduated from Niagara Falls High School. He was employed at the Seneca Niagara Casino. He enjoyed playing basketball and watching the Pittsburgh Penguins and Los Angeles Lakers. His favorite player was Kobe Bryant.Besides his mother, he is survived by his sisters Chantel Fronczak and Lisa Smith, loving niece Hailey Smith and many cousins, aunts and uncles.He was the brother of the late Gary L. Gary was raised in Lewiston and attended Lewiston-Porter where he graduated in 1980. George Mindham passed at home in Niagara Falls, NY at one hundred and a half years old. He joined the U.S. Marines in 1943 and was stationed in the Pacific during WWII. After returning from the war, he was employed the former Carborundum Company and Hooker Chemical Company. George was a city of Niagara Falls Firefighter at Engine 8 and Engine 7. He retired in 1987 after 30 years of service. He was a master woodcarver, artist, and skilled carpenter. He was predeceased by his wife Barbara (MacSporran) after 73 years of marriage. He was also predeceased by his daughter Pamela. George is survived by his daughter, Penny Mindham, three nieces; Deb White, Jerri Weppner, and Lori Kalani and several great-nieces and -nephews.A memorial service will be held at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 616 Cayuga Drive Ave, Niagara Falls, on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at 11 AM. Frederick M. Schmidt passed away July 5, 2024. Born December 12, 1933, son of the late Harold L. and Helen T. (Zapotosky) Schmidt.Frederick served in the Navy for two years, worked for New York Telephone Company (Verizon), the Town of Lewiston Police, was a member of the Lewiston #2 Fire Company (was President for one year) and he also drove Van Go for Mount St. Mary's Hospital.He enjoyed fishing, hunting and golfing. He spent many years and hours in his vegetable garden.Frederick is survived by his wife of 67 years, Ann J. (Swann) Schmidt, son David F. (Francine) Schmidt, daughter Judith A. (Richard) Amentia. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Frederick is predeceased by a son, Paul K. Deborah A. Laderer, 64, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on Friday, July 5, 2024. Born in Beaufort, South Carolina on September 8, 1959 she was the daughter of the late Michael J. Naughton Sr. and the late Joan M. (Waterson) Doyle. Deborah's family meant everything to her. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren.She is survived by her children, Laura Johnson, Lindsay Piper, and David Johnson; grandchildren, Andrea Johnson, Austin Mojeski and Cole Piper; great-granddaughter, Evie 'Anna Smith; one sister. Charles O. Marazzo, 84, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 4, 2024 in Kenmore Mercy Hospital. Born in Niagara Falls, he was the son of the late Frank and Margaret (Cicciari) Marazzo.Charles attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School. He served in the United States Army until his honorable discharge in 1965. Shortly after arriving home, he married the love of his life, Linda (Cesari) Marazzo on December 11, 1965 at St. Joseph's Church.Charles grew up immersed in the grocery store business starting as a stock clerk at the former Columbia Markets at the age of 16. In 1970, he became the owner and operator of Latina's on Pine Avenue in Niagara Falls. With the addition of his sons, Chuck and Craig, and daughter, Ann, he expanded the business into a wholesale food distribution company, Latina Food Service, which currently holds over 350 employees and serves over 4000 customers throughout Western New York.Charles was active in the community and served on several boards. He was a longtime member of St. Joseph's Church, as well as the Cristoforo Columbo Society. In his leisure time he enjoyed golfing, playing cards and completing sudoku puzzles. Betty J. Allen, age 99, of Youngstown, NY, entered into eternal rest, peacefully with her family by her side on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at Sisters Of Charity Hospital. Betty was born on September 10, 1924 in Shreve, OH, the daughter of the late Marion J. and Dorothy M. (nee Jones) Walker. She married the late Herbert J. Allen on March 22, 1947, who predeceased her in 1996. Betty was a longtime and once very active parishioner of the 1st Presbyterian Church of Youngstown, the Girl Scouts of America and Youngstown Home Bureau. She will be dearly missed by all.Besides her parents and husband, Betty was predeceased by her son Mark Allen in 2016. Darrel B. Kashishian, 65 years old, passed away on July 4, 2024 surrounded by family. He was born in Niagara Falls on February 16, 1959, the son of the late George and Marguerite (Wackett) Kashishian.Darrel attended local schools and was employed as an auto mechanic for several area dealerships and garages. He loved to spend time with family, listen to music on his boat, and tinker around with his latest gadgets.Darrel is survived by his wife, Therese (Garfalo); his daughters Laura Kashishian, Amy Kashishian (Martin Lubonski), Shannon Doyle, and Danielle Doyle; and four grandchildren Ella Kashishian, Camden Kashishian, Vienna Lubonski, and Vierra Lubonski. He is also survived by his sister and brothers, Debra (Gerard Lewis), Kevin (Liz), and Paul (Louise Augustyniak) Kashishian, several cousins, and his beloved Maggie Moo. Born September 20th 1938, in West Decatur, PA, Collis "Duane" Smeal passed away on July 3rd 2024, after a heroic but short battle with cancer under the compassionate care of Hospice House.Duane was predeceased by his mother Mildred (Kanouff) Smeal, his father Collis Smeal and his brother Marvin Smeal. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Mary (O'Bresly) Smeal, and his (3) three children Rebekah Rogers, Mary Susan Smeal-Montoro, and Earl Smeal, spouse Lynette (Bolea) Smeal.Duane, a fan of classic Westerns movies, is also survived by his "Magnificent Seven" grandchildren, Alaina Rogers (partner Lukas Weinstein) , Andrew Montoro (spouse Kayla Brophy), Aubrey Combs (spouse James Combs), Vincent G. Montoro, (spouse Stephanie Evers), Christina Montoro, Nicholas Smeal, (fiancé Courtney Fell), and Adrienne Wright (spouse Jared Wright). Duane is also survived by the pride and joy of his life, his (4) four great-grandchildren, Weston Combs, Elliott Montoro, Eliza Combs, Amelia Montoro.Duane was a 1957 graduate of LaSalle Senior High School. He was drafted into the US Army in 1960 for the Berlin Crisis. After a short stint in the Army, Duane returned to Niagara Falls where he worked for the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company for 41 years before retiring in 1999.Duane was a member of the First Church of The Nazarene, and had a hand in building it's original location on 93rd Street in Niagara Falls.Duane was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed fishing and hunting. But, most of all Duane enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Margaret (Marge) Eleanor Ciccarelli of Wheatfield NY, passed away peacefully in Roanoke Virginia, on June 26, 2024 at the age of 83. She had recently moved to Roanoke to live with her daughter. Marge was born on March 20, 1941 in Niagara Falls NY to Alexander and Margaret Roy Taylor Linton. She grew up in Grand Island NY. In 1963, Marge married Jack Ciccarelli and shared 44 years of marriage until Jack's passing in 2007. Marge worked at the Red Coach Inn and later as a manager at John's Flaming Hearth. She loved beautiful things and enjoyed art, jewelry, and travel. In her later years, she found joy in playing bingo and often traveled to Canada for larger jackpots. Marge is survived by her two children, Glenn Ciccarelli of PA, and Jackie (Richard) Grant of VA. She was a beloved grandmother to six grandchildren: Shane, Corey, and Nathan Ciccarelli, and Teketel, Aklilu, and Rudi Grant. She also leaves behind one great-grandson, Jaxon Ciccarelli. Lastly, Marge leaves behind her special friend, Ron Masic who she enjoyed spending time with. Gerald Alan Beresheski, Sr., (Jerry) of Ransomville, NY, passed into the loving arms of Jesus on June 22, 2024, at the age of 73. Born on August 11,1950 in DuBois, PA, he was the son of the late Alex and Jeanne (Senior) Beresheski. He was the loving husband of Donna Dean (Rusk) Beresheski for 42 years. Jerry served in the United States Air Force from 1969, until his honorable discharge in 1972. After that time, he worked for many years as an electrician, employed at Alkegen, Carborundum Abrasives Inc., and IBEW Local 237. He retired in July of 2022. Jerry was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, as well as a member of Forestview Church of God. He served in many capacities within the church, including co-directing the His Kidz puppet ministry, establishing the video ministry and singing in the choir. A quiet man with a huge heart, Jerry loved animals, crossword puzzles, and gadgets. Above all, Jerry loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. In addition to his beloved wife, Jerry is survived by four children: Michaeline (Jedidiah) Crandall, Marcelline (Michael) Fuerch, Gerald Alan Beresheski, Jr. (Melissa Haley), and Margaret (Keaton) Selleck; five grandchildren, Luca, Elam, Laci, Pella and Amos; two brothers, James (Jennifer) Beresheski and Jeffrey (Patricia) Beresheski and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Priscilla Nash, a longtime resident of Palm Harbor FL, passed away on June 26, 2024, in Bonita Springs FL. Priscilla graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1955 and graduated from the Rochester General Hospital School of Nursing in 1958. She was also a 1961 graduate of the SUNY Plattsburgh NY school nursing program. Priscilla was a school nurse with the Western School Corporation in Russiaville IN from 1967 to 1977. She moved from Indiana to Florida in 1977 and was a school nurse with Pasco County Schools, FL from 1979 until her retirement in 2003. She was a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Tarpon Springs FL. Priscilla will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother, faithful friend and tireless advocate for the many children in the schools where she served as a school nurse. (Morreale) Sarkees.Andy, as he was affectionately known, was a graduate of Bishop Duffy High School, and earned his Bachelor's Degree from Niagara University and later his Master's Degree from University at Buffalo in Chemical Engineering. In 1993, he married Linda C. (Grochala) Sarkees at Sacred Heart Church. Ange was employed for 30 years as a Water Engineer with the D.E.C. in Buffalo, NY, until his retirement. His true passion and mission in life was giving back. Earning the title of 'The Can Man', Angelo founded 'Deposits For Food', where he collected cans and bottles, raising over $100,000 for Community Missions, Heart, Love and Soul and the Ransomville and Wilson Food Pantry. He was awarded the 2023 Philanthropist of the Year award by the Association of Fundraising. Angelo was also the former president of the Board of Directors for the Niagara Civic Ballet for several years.In his spare time, Andy enjoyed collecting and antiquing with his wife, loved watching sports, listening to music, and playing golf. Robert Edward Buzzelli, retired engineer and loving husband and father, passed away from a brief illness on Sunday, June 16, 2024. A lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, he attended local schools and was a 1953 graduate of the University of Buffalo. After a two-year stint in the U.S. Army, he began what would become a 45 year career as an engineer. This career was in addition to his 52 year marriage to his wife, Judith (nee Shaffer), who predeceased him in 2018, and loving father to his children Karen, Michael (Carolyn) and Robert (Dawn), all of whom survive him. Despite his long working career, his interests in gardening, culinary pursuits and his family and friends were his true life's passions. There will be no visitation. It is with deep sadness that the family of Rebecca Diane Henderson announce her passing following a brief but courageous fight against the insidious thief, cancer.Rebecca and her husband Timothy were only one year shy of their fiftieth wedding anniversary. A second grandson, Daniel William Henderson recently graduated from Niagara Wheatfield High School.Rebecca was a scout leader in Canada for over 20 years and through her quiet but firm disposition and patience, she was able to help usher adolescents into responsible adulthood. Diane M. (Peters) Spavento, age of 69, passed away on June 9, 2024 at Buffalo General Medical Center. Born on May 20, 1955 in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late James and Helen (Rutkowski) Peters and the wife of the late Perry J. Spavento, MD.Diane was a lifelong area resident. Sister Frances Clare Perry , OSF (formerly Sister M. Majella), born in Buffalo, NY on March 11, 1930, died on June 11, 2024 at the Stella Niagara Health Center, Stella Niagara, New York. She was the daughter of the late Edward and Anna (McMahon) Perry.After graduating from Sacred Heart Academy, Buffalo, NY, Sister Frances Clare entered the Sisters of St. Francis of Penance and Christian Charity on September 2, 1947 and was professed August 18, 1950. I was born in Niagara Falls Ontario, on April 9, 1951, son of the late Ralph and Flora (Holmes) Fraser and brother to Judy.The following story documents my life journey to the USA. I grew up in a small village called Stamford Center, later becoming part of Niagara Falls, Ont. I remember as a child I would climb our maple tree in the front yard, and I would sit up there on a small stool that I wedged between the branches. From my perch I could see the neon sign on the roof of the United Office Building in downtown Niagara Falls, NY. I would also watch the cargo planes fly out of the US Air Reserve Station. I was always fascinated by those "flying boxcars!"In my youth, from one year old until college, I spent every summer with my mom and dad at our campsite on Lake Huron in Southampton, Ont. Mom and I would stay for the summer until Labor Day. Dad was a purchasing agent for a company called Ohio Brass so he would commute every weekend except for his 3 weeks of vacation in July. Dad was a WWII veteran with the RCAF. He was very resourceful and engineered several improvements for us to enjoy living in a tent for the summer. We would fish a lot and cook on a camp stove. On rainy days we would gather around the picnic tables under the awning and play Rummoli. Later it would be euchre tournaments with Black Label beer for the adults, while we roasted marshmallows.Mom and Dad eventually upgraded to a trailer in 1965. The last one was over thirty feet with an indoor bathroom. I was always content in my tent.At the age of 10, I got my first job as a pin setter at the Beach Bowl. I earned 5 cents for every 10 frames of five-pin bowling per person. All that cash went back into the pinball machines and soda fountain for shakes and fries. At 13, I worked for my Grampa Jim (mom's dad) at his grocery store and cottages. I took the early shift until noon in the store while Gramps tended to the cottages. After work I would spend the rest of the day at the beach with my friends. Most were from the Michigan area.My best friend was Dave from Detroit. Often during the week when dad was home with the car, we would walk the boat on its trailer down to the beach and launch it by hand. The boat was aluminum 14-foot with a six horse Merc. It was just big enough for us to explore Lake Huron from Chantry Island on out to the mile marker buoys at the mouth of the Saugeen River and upstream to the rapids at Denny's Dam. After a day of adventure, we would gas up at the harbor and head back to the beach.My last summer at the lake was in 1968. After that, my trips to the trailer were usually in July for Dad's birthday. Mom passed away in 1992 but Dad continued to spend his summers at the lake up until 2005, the year he joined Mom. The last trip for me was with my wife in 2000 on Dad's 80th. We trailered our bikes there so Dad could enjoy his first ride on a Harley. I was so fortunate to have such great parents to afford us our summer vacation every year.During my high school and college years I spent my leisure time at various US bars where the drinking age at that time was 18. During high school, my favorite haunts were Jackson's, the OH and Gabriel's. During college they were The Bakery and Fitzgerald's.I graduated from Niagara College in 1972 with a Technologist degree in Construction Estimating and Drafting. Before I started working for a living, I took a vacation and flew to Great Britain for 3 weeks where I hitchhiked over 1,800 miles. I stayed in bed & breakfasts, hostels and camped in my pup tent whenever possible. I started south of London to Nottingham Castle and on up the east coast to Edinburgh, Scotland where I was able to hear the pipes play from the castle at the Highland Tattoo. There were marching bands from all over the world but what impressed me the most was the Queens Guard, a drill team of the Cadet Force of Rutgers University from Brunswick, NJ! The next day I continued north and camped out along Loch Ness next to an old crumbling castle. I thought I might catch a glimpse of Nessie but no luck although it was worth a look. The last leg of my journey was to Motherwell, Scotland where my Grampa Jim was born in 1891. I then travelled through the Lake District of England, a side trip to the northern coast of Wales on the Irish Sea and then south through the moors of southern England where I visited Stonehenge. Overall, it was an amazing journey where I met so many friendly people in the pubs enjoying some great pints of bitter. I really loved that beer!Upon my return home I began my career as an architectural draftsman. I started with D.N. Chapman Architects for a month. The firm expanded to become Chapman Murray Architects (CMA), where I worked on a wide range of projects throughout the Niagara Peninsula, mostly in schools and hospitality plus a lot of custom cottages in northern Ontario. I worked up through the ranks and excelled in historic renovations on various local projects such as the preservation of the Toronto power plant in Niagara Falls, the Angel Inn, Queens Landing Hotel and the Pillar and Post Hotel all of which were in Niagara-on-the-Lake.During that time, my life changed significantly! In 1985, while cruising on my motorcycle checking out the bands at the local bars, I met Bobbie. She was the lead singer in a band! She was also an American citizen from Ohio. Bobbie was the one! We dated for a few months and then I moved in with her in the house she rented in Niagara Falls Ont. She had two German Shepard guard dogs named Smith and Wesson and I had my Miniature Schnauzer. His name was Casey. We later purchased the house in 1986. Bobbie commuted to Niagara Falls NY to work at various administrative positions and played in her band at night. I continued working at CMA and came home at lunch to let out the dogs. Eventually she quit the band so we could enjoy just being together. In 1987, we were married at Hickory College Church, a small chapel in Lewiston, NY known today as the St. Jude's Shrine. Who would have thought back then that we would wind up living so close to where we exchanged our vows.In 1992 the economy tanked so we sold our house in Canada and packed up and moved to Lorain, Ohio, to take care of Bobbie's dad Stan. Ten months later in 1993, we found ourselves back in Niagara Falls, only this time we settled in NY! Other than 10 months in Lorain, I have lived in Niagara Falls my entire life.I continued commuting to Canada working at CMA until, I was let go in 1999. Unbeknownst to me another architect had heard of my layoff and wanted me to work for him. So after 20 years with CMA I left and joined Piraino + Raimondo Architects (P+R). It was a no-brainer because their office was only a 15-minute drive across the border on the Nexus-only Whirlpool Bridge to our house in DeVeaux.P+R provided far more opportunities for design than what I had ever done on my own at CMA. I started off right out of the gate with a 15-story hotel for the Radisson chain. It was already under construction, so they needed an experienced designer to push it forward. When the principal partner left the firm, I became an associate with the new firm named Raimondo Associates Architects, (RAA). Some of my favorite projects consisted of the Entertainment and Conference Center for the Sheraton Hotel, the new façade for the Ripley's Believe It Or Not on Clifton Hill with King Kong on top of the Empire State Building, the new entertainment facility and water slides at Sherkston and the new water park atop of the parking garage at the Sheraton Hotel. In 2000, I became a Roman Catholic. During my time attending the RCIA classes at St. Joseph's with Monsignor Amico, I had the privilege of designing a brand new Roman Catholic Church in Stony Creek, Ont., named the Immaculate Heart of Mary. It was a very moving experience.On Oct. 7, 2010, I became a US citizen! It only took 59 years but was well worth the journey getting here! After all those years I recently discovered that my Grampa Gordon Fraser, (Dad's dad) was born in Detroit, Michigan! The last project that I was involved with was in 2015 with the opening of the Rainforest Cafe at the Sheraton on Third Street in Niagara Falls NY. In 2016, I retired. All tallied up I worked 44 years. Architecture was a very gratifying career choice where I coordinated with many talented individuals to create, a wide range of buildings on both sides of the border. Upon retirement, Bobbie and I dispersed our time by continually improving our home and property. We customized our home to suit our lifestyle. I kept up with my trade by redesigning our kitchen and bathrooms and completely renovated the upstairs and downstairs. We turned our yard into a sanctuary with our cabin-styled deck, hardscape patio features, perennial gardens, and landscape lighting. We added a pond with a waterfall and a sand beach with a working lighthouse. We genuinely enjoyed our gardens and all the critters and birds that travelled through it. We converted our garage into what we called the Outback Shack. It is a combination workshop, garden shed, Harley parking only garage and museum where all my collectables are on full display. Since the pandemic it has become the Outback Shack Pub where we entertain ourselves.It was a great decision not to return to Canada when we left Ohio. We love our house in DeVeaux where we lived the rest of our lives together. Not once since we met did, we ever eat dinner apart or spend the night apart. We were destined to be together forever. Lastly and most importantly I would like to thank my wife and best friend Bobbie for a wonderful journey! See you soon for our everlasting adventure together! You are the best EVER! Lillian Dinato, 87, formerly of Niagara Falls passed away on May 31, 2024 in Sun City, Arizona; the daughter of Lillian (Gibson) and Ernest Bourgon of Niagara Falls. Lillian was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Donald Dinato (2012). Also she was preceded in death by her sister Judith Bourgon. She is survived by two brothers Ernest Bourgon and John (Barbara) Bourgon, both of Las Vegas, Nevada. Thomas Edwin Robins, age 90, passed away peacefully at home on June 4th, 2024, holding his Savior's hand walking in the beautiful gardens of Heaven, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born March 29th, 1934 in Niagara Falls, NY. He graduated from Niagara Falls High School and went on to serve in the United States Marine Corp. After returning home from the Marines, he began his professional career by working at Kimberly Clark in Niagara Falls, and later at Dephi Harrison Radiator Corp. in Lockport, NY, a division of General Motors. He was an active member of the Fairhaven Church in Wheatfield, NY, a lifetime member of NCHA-FCRV Campers, and a lifetime member of Good Sam's. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and traveling with his wife. Sister Gertrude Lacki, OSF (formerly Sister Lenore) born in Buffalo, NY on November 16, 1946, died on May 28, 2024 at Kenmore-Mercy Hospital in Buffalo, New York. She was the daughter of the late Thaddeus and Helen (Chojnacki) Lacki. After graduating from Sacred Heart Academy, Buffalo, NY, Sister Gertrude entered the Sisters of St. Francis of Penance and Christian Charity at Stella Niagara, NY on September 6, 1964 and was professed July 2, 1967. Her ministry took her from New York to West Virginia, New Jersey, Rome, Italy and Orlik, Poland.Besides her parents, Sister Gertrude was predeceased by her sister, Eleanor (Edwin) Winterberg, a brother, Richard (Patricia) Lacki, and a niece, Susie. Richard E. Woolson, age 85, of Lewiston died on Friday, May 24th, 2024, at home. Richard was born on December 12th, 1938, in Niagara Falls, NY. He is the son of the late Isaac and the late Lorraine (Gladfilter) Woolson. He was a 1957 graduate of Lew-Port High School and honorably served in the United States Army. He married Audrey Butz on June 24th, 1961, she predeceased him on August 18th, 2023. Richard was employed by GM/Harrison Radiator as a Line Worker for 38 years. He enjoyed time with his family, grape farming, bowling, bird watching, German Shepherd dogs, old tv shows and was an avid Buffalo Bills fan. Walter R. Hyla, 90, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at his son's residence under hospice care in California. Born in Nantico*ke, PA, he was the son of the late Walter and Mary (Lotnik) Hyla; and the beloved husband of the late Frances (Fitt) Hyla.Walter moved to Niagara Falls in 1951 and earned his Associate's degree in Mechanical Technology from Erie County Community College. On April 22, 1953. He enlisted in the United States Army until his honorable discharge in 1955.Walter was employed by the Niagara Falls Wastewater Treatment Plant for over 27 years as an Instrument Technician. He was a devout Catholic and parishioner of the former Holy Trinity Church, as well as their senior group. Walter was also a longtime member of the American Legion Portage Post 1465 and several local pinochle clubs throughout Lewiston, NY and N. Tonawanda, NY.Mr. Hyla is survived by his son Robert (Rebecca) Hyla; two grandchildren, Robert Hyla Jr. and Lauren Hyla; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife France, his daughter Lynn Marie, three brothers, Henry, Chester and Joseph Hyla, and his five sisters, Lottie Soldon, Jean Langley, Stella Ziolkowski, Loretta Labus and Sophie Ciszek.Visitation will be Thursday, June 6 from 3 - 7 PM at M.J. Karen M. Nelligan, 73 of Maricopa, AZ, left this world on Sunday, May 19, 2024, after a brief illness.Karen was born February 15, 1951, in Olean, NY, the daughter of Bernard and Dorothy (Stout) Johnston. She married the love of her life, Ken, on February 18, 1967, in Olean, NY. They moved to Ransomville, NY, in 1973, to raise their family, where they lived until moving to Maricopa, AZ, in 2015.Karen had several jobs over her lifetime but the job that she loved the most was being a stay-at-home mom.She fulfilled a remarkable life, one filled with five daughters, and over 30 grand and great-grandchildren.She loved the little things, like sitting out in the sunshine and the beauty of hummingbirds. She loved to cook, crochet, sew and do ceramics. She was a hoot filled with joy and laughter, and she truly gave us the best of herself.
